Conservative “The View” co-host Meghan McCain said that Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas’ trip to Mexico while his state was in a climate crisis was “deaf” and “sleazy”, but suggested it received attention in a scale not reserved for more serious democratic crises, such as that of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, D.
“He’s incredibly deaf,” she said. “It is negligible. If you govern as an elected leader or authority, it is to be with your voters during a period of crisis.”
Cruz is being criticized for flying to Cancún, Mexico, with his family, as millions of Texans spent days without power during a terrible winter storm.

The Republican senator has since admitted that the flight was “obviously a mistake” when he returned to the United States on Thursday after a violent reaction from his voters.
McCain’s father, Senator John McCain, R-Arizona, clashed with Cruz when the two served together in the 2013 U.S. Senate until McCain’s death in 2018.

Cuomo is facing political heat on both sides because of his suspicion of covering up deaths in coronavirus nursing homes in the state during the height of the pandemic.
The press flattered Cuomo throughout 2020, but increased pressure in recent weeks, after a report by Attorney General Letitia James, D., that he underreported deaths in nursing homes and an aide said it was to avoid an investigation federal.
