“Killers of the Flower Moon”, by Martin Scorsese, ends the indigenous cast
Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” completed his cast of indigenous actresses, casting Tantoo Cardinal, Cara Jade Myers, JaNae Collins and Jillian Dion in the film starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Scorsese’s period film about the Native American Osage tribe is led by Lily Gladstone. Jesse Plemons and Robert De Niro also star. “Killers of the Flower Moon” is based on the David Grann novel and takes place in the 1920s in Oklahoma, portraying the serial murder of members of the oil-rich Osage nation, a series of brutal crimes that came to be known as the Kingdom of Terror. Cardinal became a member of the Order of Canada, the second largest civilian tribute in the country, followed in 2020 by the Governor General’s Arts Award, the largest civilian tribute to the Arts in Canada. JaNae Collins is a registered member of the Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes of Poplar, Montana, but is also half Apsáalooke (Raven). His TV and film credits include “Longmire”, “Fukry”, “Kindred Spirit” and “Gunfight at La Mesa”. It is not represented and is independent. Jillian Dion is a Canadian actress born in Plains Cree, Metis and French-Canadian descent, raised in a Dene / Metis family. Dion appeared in “Motherland: Fort Salem” and “Legion”.
