Meghan Markle’s pregnancy reveals that the dress sent a ‘powerful message’

Meghan Markle’s latest look was elegant and sustainable.

The Duchess of Sussex, 39, usually wears her clothes to send messages, and there may have been a hidden one in the Carolina Herrera dress she wore to announce her second pregnancy on Sunday.

For the black and white photo taken via iPad by photographer Misan Harriman, a friend of Markle and Prince Harry, the Duchess wore a flowing dress that was tailored for her by the brand’s creative director, Wes Gordon.

“I made [the dress] for her when she was pregnant with Archie, almost two years ago. It’s a reality, it’s 2021 and we have a world to save, right? Gordon told The Telegraph about Markle putting the clothes back on.

“This is an undeniable crisis and everyone has to do their part. At Herrera, we are committed to seeking sustainable fabrics. But the number one thing that someone can do for sustainability is to hold the parts you buy and use them for longer, ”he continued.

“That’s why I think what Meghan did is such a powerful message. She wore a dress that is no less beautiful, because she is two years old … it makes her feel neither less special nor less happy. “

Markle has always supported Gordon’s; she wrote that she was “obsessed” with her “beautiful, glorious and effortlessly sexy” designs on her defunct lifestyle blog, The Tig, in 2014. The following year, she sat in the front row of one of the fashion shows. Gordon for its namesake label.

The Duchess also displayed Gordon’s designs to Carolina Herrera during her royal duties, mainly at the Queen Trooping the Color ceremony in 2018 and during her royal trip through Morocco while pregnant with Archie in 2019.
