Meghan Markle wipes her first names from Archie’s birth certificate in a sweet nod to Diana | Royal | News

Meghan Markle changed the names she provided on her son’s birth certificate. She decided to remove her first names “Rachel Meghan”, leaving only “Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex”. Royal experts rated the change as “remarkable” and “unprecedented”.

The move, reported by The Sun, can be seen as a moving tribute to the late Princess Diana.

That’s because she always used “Her Royal Highness, Princess of Wales”.

Archie, the only son of Meghan and Harry, was born on May 6, 2019.

Her birth was registered on May 7, with Meghan using the first two names on the certificate.

But the couple decided to amend the official document on June 5.

Lady Colin Campbell, who identified the amendment, said: “It is extraordinary and raises all kinds of questions about what the Sussex were thinking about.”

Specialist Ingrid Seward said: “For a royal member, changing a birth certificate is unprecedented, but removing proper names is remarkable.

“Perhaps this is another sign that they were desperate to do something different with the Cambridges.”

This was discovered during the couple’s holiday edition of their podcast, Archewell Audio, shared on Spotify shortly after Christmas.

At the end of the 30-minute clip, Meghan and Harry introduce their son and encourage him to say “Happy New Year” to listeners.

It was the first time that the 20-month-old boy spoke publicly.

Urged by his mother, who asks Archie if he’s having fun, he says “Fun!” before saying “happy new year” with a little help from the parents.
