Meghan Markle, Prince Harry planned to postpone the bombshell interview if Prince Philip died, says Gayle King

Gayle King revealed that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had a contingency plan to delay their interview with Oprah Winfrey if Prince Philip’s health worsened.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex faced criticism for releasing their explosive interview with Winfrey while Queen Elizabeth II’s 99-year-old husband was hospitalized for a heart condition.

Speaking about his radio show “Gayle King in the House” SiriusXM, King, who is friends with Winfrey and Markle, noted that the duke and duchess had a plan in case the Duke of Edinburgh died before the interview was launched.

“Well, just so you know, they did that interview before Prince Phillip went to the hospital,” she explained (via People). “If something, God forbid, had happened to him, the interview would not have happened at this specific time. But the interview was done and it was scheduled before he went to the hospital. But many people raised that point.”

Philip was discharged from King Edward VII’s Hospital in London on Tuesday after being hospitalized for four weeks and undergoing a cardiac procedure. King went on to explain why she believes that Harry and Markle felt that it was so essential to give the interview given the potentially dire situation in which Philip found himself.

“I think Harry and Meghan have been through a lot in the last three years and they really tried to work it out in particular. They really tried to get help, and nothing was working,” she explained. “I think they wanted people to understand why they made the decision they made and what they are going through, and I think they did it. I think. I think it was very brave of her and Harry to reveal what they did. It’s unheard of, and it was certainly a ‘bomb’, is the word. “

Markle and Harry’s interview included several surprising revelations, such as the former American actress having suicidal thoughts and supposedly not getting help from the palace. She also said there had been conversations before her baby was born about how the family would react publicly if he was dark-skinned.

During an episode of “CBS This Morning”, King recently claimed that she believes Markle “has documents to support everything she said in Oprah’s interview. Everything.”
