Meghan Markle, Prince Harry ‘disturbing’ interview for Kate Middleton, Prince William ‘devastated’: royal expert

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s revealing interview with Oprah Winfrey left their family members feeling bitter.

During the two-hour conversation, the Sussex addressed difficulties in their relationships with members of the royal family.

Markle talked about the rumor that she made her sister-in-law Kate Middleton cry at the time of her marriage to Harry, explaining that it was actually the other way around.

In addition, Harry revealed that he and his brother, Prince William, have placed “space” between them after the drama surrounding Harry’s departure from his royal duties.

Now, royal expert Katie Nicholl spoke to Entertainment Tonight about the effect the bombshell had on Middleton, 39, and William, 38, who remain in the UK while Markle and Harry live in the U.S.

“William is devastated by this interview,” said Nicholl. “Don’t forget that the Duchess of Cambridge [Middleton] is being dragged into this whole saga and William is going to hate that and of course the relationship between the father [Prince Charles] and the son is, of course, at a lower point. “

In addition, Nicholl said that Middleton will find it “disturbing” to be “drawn into” the real drama, especially considering that she “tried very hard to be a peacemaker between William and Harry”.

“She was deeply saddened by the brothers’ fight,” said the expert. “Don’t forget that she was incredibly close to Harry.”

In addition, Nicholl said it is unclear what the relationship between the couples will look like in the future, although Harry indicated in the interview that time will heal his family cracks.

“Harry said that time is a healer and it is,” said Nicholl. “But I think there are so many raw emotions here, that it is too early to talk about any kind of family reunion.”

Harry, 36, also said he believed William and his father, Charles, were “trapped” within the institution – a sentiment that Nicholl considers unfair to royalty.

“Harry was born in a very different role than William – he was born spare, William the heir,” she said. “William always knew what his birthright duties and rights were.

Nicholl continued, “I’m sure there are times when he resents the establishment he was born in and there are times when he steps back. … Certainly there are times when William struggled with his birthright, but to suggest that he is stuck in the institution, I don’t think it’s true and I don’t think it’s probably up to Harry to say that in any case. “

Harry also talked about his 72-year-old father, revealing that at one point Charles stopped taking his calls.

“There came a point where Charles just didn’t want to hear what Harry and Meghan were proposing anymore,” said Nicholl. “Instead, he asked him to put an email, something Harry didn’t want to do because he was convinced it would leak and Harry was absolutely right. It leaked to the press and that’s why he solved the problem with his bare hands. . “

She added that “it must have been a very difficult thing for Harry to say” that he felt disappointed in his father, but also a “difficult” thing for Charles to hear, especially considering that Nicholl said they were very close.

“So that closeness quickly turned into resentment and detachment when Charles didn’t want to sit down and discuss what Harry and Meghan wanted for the future on the phone and that’s when we understood that the relationship broke up,” she said. “But for Charles to hear that he was disappointed by Harry, it will be very, very painful.”
