Meghan Markle has kept a cartier watch for her daughter since 2012

Meghan Markle’s little girl will inherit some very modern genes – along with a particularly special piece of jewelry.

“I’ve always coveted the Cartier French Tank watch,” said Markle, 39, to Hello! magazine in 2015. “When I found out that ‘Suits’ had been chosen for our third season – which at the time seemed like a milestone – I totally squandered and bought the two-tone version.”

The Duchess of Sussex continued: “I had engraved on the back, ‘For MM, for MM’ and I intend to give it to my daughter one day. This is what makes the pieces special, the connection you have with them. “

The Markle version of the Tank Française sells for $ 6,200, making it an accessory worth keeping in the family for future generations.

Coincidentally, the Duchess’s late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, had two versions of the same watch: a Tank Louis, which features a crocodile bracelet, and a Tank Française in yellow gold.

Prince Harry, 36, is believed to have inherited the latter after his mother’s death and eventually gave it to Markle, as she was apparently seen using it during a Fortune magazine virtual conference in 2020.

Markle revealed that she and Harry were expecting a girl during the bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, which aired on CBS on Sunday, March 7.

For the meeting, the Duchess complemented her symbolic lotus-patterned Armani dress with two more special Cartier pieces: her yellow gold Love bracelet ($ 6,550) and Princess Diana’s diamond bracelet, which Harry used to make his engagement ring of three stones in 2017

“They wanted to use the bracelet to have [Harry’s] mother there with them during the interview, ”a spokesman for Markle told the“ Today ”program.

Cartier also supplied the Duchess’s wedding jewelry when she said “yes” to the prince.
