Meghan Markle for President? And other rush orders from Oprah’s UK interview

Some of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s allegations during their interview with Oprah Winfrey last week are being debunked by the British media, even as Fleet Street continues to lean on rumors and gossip about the international couple.

The Daily Mail devoted a lengthy article to contesting the interview’s false or misleading claims – then, separately, it predicted that the Duchess of Sussex could run for the United States presidency in 2024, citing an unnamed British Labor Party official.

She is reportedly already “networking” with “senior Democrats” in a presidential fundraising plan.

“Blairite, internationalist and Democratic Party networks are teeming with conversations about the political ambitions of Meghan and her potential supporters,” said the source quoting his source.

Other critics and media also investigated the couple’s statements during the interview, which aired last week.

“I don’t believe a word of what she says,” former Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan said of Meghan on Monday, the day before he left the set of his own show. He gave up hours later.

First, there is a dispute over who made who cry between Markle and Kate Middleton, her sister-in-law, before the first marriage to Harry.

The couple told Winfrey that Meghan was brought to tears.

But the Times of London reported the opposite – going so far as to say that Meghan slammed the door in Kate’s face when she tried to calm things down.

The couple also told Winfrey that their son, Archie, had lost an actual title. But that is not the case, according to a Guardian report – he is simply not eligible under long-standing policy. But he will be, apparently, when his grandfather, Prince Charles, takes the throne.

In the United States, the Founding Fathers explicitly forbade the government to grant titles of nobility under Article I of the Constitution. And that same clause would mean that Meghan would probably have to deny her “duchess” title if she really ran for president, unless Congress allowed an exception.

And with regard to the couple’s secretly declared marriage before their multimillion-dollar affair on television – that was just a “rehearsal,” according to the Daily Mail.

Meghan’s half sister, Samantha Markle, contested the claim that the two had not seen each other for nearly 20 years, sharing a photo of them together – from 2008.

Meanwhile, Harry expressed concern that the media’s fixation on his personal life could lead to tragedy. Her mother, Princess Diana, died in a high-speed car accident in Paris in 1997, while being chased by paparazzi.

An American lawyer representing some of Jeffrey Epstein’s victims is also accusing the royal palace of using the drama of Harry and Meghan to divert Prince Andrew’s attention.
