Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ‘don’t need’ royal titles from His Royal Highness as Megxit’s assessment approaches | Royal | News

A royal expert and author argued that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not necessarily need their titles to thrive financially and socially in their new life in the United States. Penny Junor pointed to the fact that the couple is known and still manages to generate great public interest, despite leaving the royal family.

Asked if they would be stripped, she said it wouldn’t matter anyway.

She told Express.co.uk: “I don’t think they need their titles. I don’t think it matters much if they keep their titles.

“I think it would be very uncharitable of the Queen if they lost their titles, but they don’t need them.

“Everyone knows who Harry and Meghan are.

“And for every contract they have, they’ll receive extra zeros at the end of the contract because of who they are and they’ll probably get the contract for who they are, because of their real connections.

“And that will be the case, whether they are HRH or not.”

Earlier this month, Meghan, 39, announced that she had invested in an oat milk start-up in California and asked for the help of her friend Oprah Winfrey to publicize the product on Instagram.

Ms. Junor said that any suggestion that Meghan and Harry would need their real titles to get lucrative commercial contracts like the Netflix and Spotify megacontracts was “absolutely absurd”.

She explained: “Everyone knows their stories. Until they become an old man and an old woman, people will continue to know their stories, I suspect. “

In September, it was announced that Sussex signed a mega-production deal with streaming giant Netflix.

The duo will make TV series, children’s programs and documentaries under the terms of the multi-annual contract.

The pact raised eyebrows not just because of the site’s real successful show, The Crown, which was criticized for portraying the life of royalty in a false way.

Mrs. Junor questioned whether Harry could do a good job with the Netflix project, given the fact that he has no previous experience in media, production or theater.

She said: “The Netflix thing, I don’t see how it will work because Harry is a helicopter pilot. Will he really be able to make programs?

“And is it the right thing to go to bed with the company that made The Crown that really hurt your family?

“The end result is that they need money. They bought a really extravagant home and have a very extravagant lifestyle, so they need money to support it and want to be financially independent. “
