Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex! The royal couple is expecting their second child together, a spokesman confirms to the BAZAAR.com.
“We can confirm that Archie will be an older brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very happy to be expecting their second child, “revealed a Sussex spokesman on Sunday. The couple shared a new photo taken remotely by their longtime friend, photographer Misan Harriman.
The duo, who moved to the United States in early 2020 and settled in Santa Barbara, California, are already parents to their one-year-old son, Archie Mountbatten Windsor, who was born in May 2019. The family of three has residing in his home in Montecito amid the COVID-19 pandemic and following his historic decision to step away from royal duties earlier this year.
Although the couple has given the audience only a few glimpses of Archie since his arrival – including when he was born, his royal trip to South Africa and for his first birthday earlier this year – the baby is reportedly enjoying his new life on the West Coast. People reported in April that Archie was “happy to be in the California sun”, while Meghan shared during a season at Therapy for teenagers podcast that he loves to play outdoors and bird watch.
During a virtual interview for Fortune’s Next Generation Most Powerful Women’s Meeting, Duchess Meghan shared a feeling about how all the personal and professional risks she takes – alluding to her and Prince Harry’s decision to leave real life for back earlier this year – they are because of her son and family.
“All I’m doing is for Archie, our son. Maybe outside, it might seem risky.” said Meghan. “But … if you’re living an authentic life, I don’t even know if you would define that as risk anymore. You just do what’s right.”
