Meet the three potential customers that Mets gave Steven Matz

Of the three right-handed pitchers that the Mets acquired on Wednesday night from the Toronto Blue Jays to southpaw Steven Matz, two have already appeared in the main ones.

Here is a synopsis of each of the three players that Mets can use to increase organizational depth in 2021:

Sean-Reid Foley, 25

Elaborated: 2014, second round

Reid-Foley came through the Blue Jays organization as a starting pitcher, and the Florida native made 13 league-wide matches in 2018-19 with an ERA 4.71. He fared best in five off-bull appearances to Toronto in 2020, allowing for a run won in three strokes over 6 2/3 innings (1.35 ERA), although with as many rides as eliminations (six each). According to MLB.com, he mainly plays four-seater fast balls (63 percent) and sliders (41 percent), with his fast ball averaging 94.4 miles per hour and reaching 96.8 mph.

Yennsy Diaz, 24

Signed: international free agent, 2014

Diaz arrives as the trio’s best rated prospect, listed as Toronto’s 26th best in 2020, according to the MLB Pipeline. He made his major league debut for Jays with an appearance of relief in August 2019, allowing for two races to be won in two-thirds of an inning against the Baltimore Orioles. Dominican Diaz was 11-9 with 3.74 ERA in 144 entries with 116 eliminations in 26 games (24 matches) for Double-A New Hampshire in 2019.

Josh Winckowski, 22

Elaborated: 15th round, 2016

Winckowski was ranked one notch below Diaz (27th) on the MLB.com list of candidates for Toronto in 2020, but the Florida native seems to be the furthest to pitch for the Mets. Winckowski has not shot above the A ball since leaving college, although he posted a 3.35 ERA with 237 eliminations in 263 entries launched over four minor league seasons. Winckowski went 10-8 with an ERA of 2.69 out of 127 1/3 combined entries for Single-A Dunedin and Single-A Lansing in 2019.
