Starting next week, the state plans to establish permanent community vaccination clinics in Minneapolis, Duluth and a location yet to be determined in southern Minnesota.
In the past two weeks, more than 27,000 Minnesota residents have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at nine community clinics across the state, according to the Minnesota Department of Health.
Health officials say these community clinics are designed to supplement primary care providers to expand vaccine distribution to people who may not have a doctor or health care provider. However, the state expects most people to get their vaccinations at clinics, hospitals and pharmacies.
So far, Minnesota has administered 531,048 COVID-19 vaccines, including 159,190 last week. A total of 111,715 Minnesota residents completed the two-dose vaccine series.
