McEnroe sisters shine on the last day of short-term championships in SC

The last day of the South Carolina Senior Short Course Championship ended on Sunday, with swimmers competing in the 200 IM, 100 free and 200 on the back.

Y-Spartaquatics Swim Club, led by sisters Annika and Kirsti McEnroe, won on the female side with 1,402 points, and also accumulated the most points for boys and girls with a total of 2,221. On the male side, Team Greenville had the most points, totaling 1,238.

Annika McEnroe obtained two more individual victories to end a successful encounter. Cal’s commit played first at 200 IM (2: 00.65), ahead of his sister Kirsti (2: 02.43), and at 200 back (1: 59.28). In the last event, she was the only swimmer to finish in less than 2 minutes.

Kirsti won an individual victory, finishing first in the 100 free. She was the only swimmer to dive below the 50 second mark, with her time of 49.80, the best of her life, 49.66.

On the boys’ side, the Greenville team won the top 2 positions at 200 IM, with Jack Doyle (1: 52.69) finishing slightly ahead of the 400 IM winner and the Army’s West Point commitment Silas Crosby (1: 53.07).

In both 100 free and 200 back, Team Greenville won the victory, with Jeffrey Stachelek claiming first place among the top 100 free 46.28 in a lifetime, and Nils Bognar finishing first in the 200 at 1: 51.95.
