<p>Mazda has just unlocked a first for the brand.</p>
<p>The zoom-zoom mark is now at the top <em>Consumer Reports’ </em>annual list of the most trusted automotive brands. It is the first time that this has happened.</p>
<p>The report, officially titled “Consumer Reports 2021 Brand Report Card,” was released on Thursday, and the other four brands in the top five were BMW, Subaru, Porsche and Honda.</p>
<p>Alfa Romeo’s reputation for reliability will not be helped by its last appearance on the list of 32 brands. Just ahead of Alfa were Land Rover, Mitsubishi, Jeep and Lincoln.</p>
<p>Unlike most automotive journalists / automotive publications, <em>Consumer reports</em> in fact, it buys the vehicles it tests and does it anonymously. It also surveys its subscribers.</p>
<p>Last year’s top dogs were Porsche and Genesis, but Genesis dropped 13 positions this year. Lincoln got even worse, dropping 15 places to 28th.</p>
<p>Tesla, the darling of tech homies everywhere, dropped from 11th to 16th place. That still put him ahead of the Mini, Kia and Volkswagen.</p>
