ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – The Bailey family called in the new year with a new baby.
Payton Mary Bailey was born at 12:50 pm on Friday at the Mayo Clinic, making her the first baby in Rochester in 2021. Her mother and father, Sara and Paul Bailey, are doing well and are ecstatic to receive their third child.
“We were induced yesterday [Thursday] morning, “said Sara.” But we were a little surprised that it took so long. And she ended up being a baby from 2021! We didn’t expect that. “
“It was a big surprise,” added Paul.
The older brother and sister were disappointed that they were unable to join their mother and father in the hospital because of the pandemic. The Baileys say they can’t wait to meet the newest member of their family soon.
Payton’s parents say her little package wanted to make sure she was born in 2021 – not 2020.
“I think she resisted for a reason,” said Paul. “It made us wait all day for it not to be associated with 2020.”
The Baileys say they are excited to finally have her here and to know that she is healthy. They can’t wait to take you home and start as a family of five.
