New Street Research managing partner Pierre Ferragu argues that Elon Musk has become the richest person in the world and Tesla’s future.
Maye Musk said this week that he knew his son, Elon Musk, was a genius when he was three years old, while she recounted the achievements of the billionaire descendant of technology.
“Well, at 3, I knew he was a genius, but you still don’t know if he’s going to do great things, because many geniuses end up in a basement being a genius, but not applying it,” she told CBS This Morning as she promoted her new memoir, “A woman makes a plan: advice for a lifetime of adventure, beauty and success”.
“I was so excited when he started Zip2 because it made life easier with door-to-door instructions and newspapers could have a link that took you to a restaurant … So, of course, he thought the banking system needed help, so he made PayPal, “she continued. “And after that, he thought, well, should he do space research or solar or electric cars? I said to choose one and, of course, he didn’t hear me.”

Musk is best known for his electric vehicle company Tesla, where he oversees product design, engineering and manufacturing, but currently also leads SpaceX, Neuralink and The Boring Company.
SpaceX develops “rockets and spacecraft for missions in Earth orbit and, ultimately, on other planets”, Neuralink is creating “ultra-high-bandwidth brain-machine interfaces to connect the human brain to computers” and The Boring Company “combines fast and affordable tunneling technology with a fully electric public transport system”, according to Tesla’s Musk biography.

He vied for the position of the richest person in the world with Amazon founder Jeff Bezo this month. Musk is now in second place with a net worth of $ 190 billion, according to Forbe’s list of real-time billionaires.
Tesla’s stock soared nearly 700% last year, making it by far the most valuable car company in the world.

Maye Musk, a supermodel and nutritionist, said her son was already showing engineering talent at age 12 when he wrote his own computer game.
“I showed it to the engineering students at the university and they said, ‘Wow, he knows all the shortcuts,'” she said. “So I said to him, ‘Well, you should send this to a magazine,’ and he did, and then he received 500,000, which was equivalent to $ 500. I don’t think they knew he was 12.”
