Mayaro beach ‘thief’ beaten, tied ‘like market crab’ | Extra News

A Mayaro ‘thief’ who was targeting a group of fitness enthusiasts on the beach had his table turned against him on Saturday.

The 20-year-old man from Sham Road was subdued, tied up and handed over to the police.

In a social media post, one of the women in the fitness group reported the ordeal.

She wrote: “Guys, we’re safe where you know … this morning my fitness team and I went to Mayaro beach to train and this man tried to steal my trainer and steal items that were left in the sand while running the length of the beach at about 9:30 am. Well, who told him to do that? “

The social media user said the suspect tried to steal her coach’s phone, but was no match for the coach she described as a trained Maloney fighter.

The fitness session turned into a self-defense class when the trainer subdued the suspect by placing him in an armbar and threw him on the floor.

The woman said the coach sought to advise the suspect by asking why he was on the beach stealing.

“He said (to the coach) ‘well boy, things are a little difficult with me and (the coach) even gave him $ 40 and told him to leave. Well, the mistake this man made was to run back and trying to pick up my coach’s daughter’s phone made the child scream. Well, alyuh do you know what crazy blood flew through (the coach’s) head? ”

Together with a trainer, they subdued the suspect again and tied him with a piece of rope “like a market crab”.

Mayaro police responded and arrested the suspect.

He was taken to the Mayaro Police Station and faces charges of theft.

PC Boodoosingh is continuing the investigation.
