Dante Brooks, son of dancehall artist Mavado, was sentenced to life in prison for murder in the Court of Justice on Friday.
Brooks, 18, and his co-accused, Andre Hinds, were found guilty of murder, illegal possession of a firearm and arson in January of this year in relation to the murder of Lorenzo Thomas in 2018.
Brooks must be 22 years old before being eligible for parole.
In addition, he was sentenced to 15 years behind bars for each charge of illegal possession of a firearm and arson. The three sentences must be executed simultaneously.
In relation to Hinds, he was sentenced to life in prison for murder, with the stipulation that he turns 17 before being considered eligible for parole.

Brooks and Hinds were accused of connection with the terrible murder of Lorenzo Thomas in the community of St Andrew de Mandioca on June 5, 2018.
According to prosecutors, Brooks and Hinds were among the five men who entered a house and shot Thomas before pushing his father into another room.
Thomas’s killers would have tried to cut off his head, but they aborted the plan because the machete that was being used was not sharp enough.
They would then have poured gasoline on the house and body before setting the site on fire.
Prosecutors relied on Thomas’ father’s eyewitness testimony, which indicated that he knew his son’s killers from the community.
