Maurkice, Mike Pouncey retired from the NFL

They entered the world together. They are leaving the football world together as well.

Former NFL centers Maurkice and Mike Pouncey, twin brothers born on July 24, 1989, are retiring from the NFL.

Maurkice was chosen in the Steelers’ first round in 2010. He was three times All-Pro from the first team and nine Pro Bowler. The Dolphins made Mike Pouncey a choice in the first round in 2011. He spent seven years in Miami and three years with the Chargers, reaching the Pro Bowl four times.

Maurkice’s departure leaves a huge hole in the middle of the offensive line for the Steelers. It could also be a factor in whether quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who indicated his desire to play for the Steelers again in 2021, will actually do so.
