The San Francisco 49ers are rumored to be looking for Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford. If they don’t, they probably prefer not to face the veteran passer at least twice a season.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that Stafford may be looking at the Los Angeles Rams as a potential destination. Understandably, the Rams have not committed to quarterback Jared Goff and, like San Francisco, can try to improve their quarterback position.
Fowler adds that the Rams are at least exploring the possibility of negotiating for Stafford.
Sources: Matthew Stafford considers the Rams to be a viable candidate in his business market with Lions. While it is unclear what the Rams can do with Jared Goff’s long-term agreement with the books, they explored the possibilities with Stafford.

Los Angeles can be almost as attractive to Stafford as San Francisco. Like 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan, Rams coach Sean McVay is well respected in the league for his creativity in the game. Of course, this could also be Los Angeles trying to raise Stafford’s price and potentially impacting a division rival.
Stafford and the Lions mutually agreed to separate after 12 seasons together. Detroit summoned Georgia’s quarterback with overall No. 1 choice in 2009. He completed 339 of 528 attempts (64.2 percent) for 4,084 yards with 26 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 16 games last season.

It seems like everyone is trying to find a way to replace Jimmy Garoppolo. Although the San Francisco 49ers defender has proven to be a differentiator on the football field, with a regular season record of 24-8 as a starter, he has missed most of the past three seasons due to injuries. There has been a lot of speculation about the possibility of acquiring Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson. Much. Of course, everything is just traffic-generating conversation at this point, as Watson did not request a trade, and the Texans did not say they would be willing to dispatch their star player. Popular podcast host John Middlekauff, a former NFL scout, joined KNBR this week and suggested another quarterback for the 49ers to attack in exchange if the team moves

Matthew Stafford is about to become available, and several teams in need of quarterbacks may express interest. Could this include Kyle Shanahan, John Lynch and the San Francisco 49ers? Is Stafford a sufficient upgrade over Jimmy Garoppolo for the 49ers to make the switch and forgo the starting capital in the process? “I am not convinced that the 49ers are definitely changing from Jimmy Garoppolo, who is well liked and has 24-9 (including playoffs) as a starter in San Francisco,” wrote ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler during the

King proposes 49ers to offer Jimmy Garoppolo, the choice of next year’s second round for Matthew Stafford

Matthew Stafford has the statistics of an elite NFL quarterback, passing over 4,000 yards eight times over his 12-year career. What he lacks is success in the playoffs. He hasn’t won a playoff game yet. Peter King of NBC Sports questions whose fault it is. Is it Stafford’s fault? Or is it the blame for the Detroit Lions, which can never put enough talent around the quarterback? Stafford also saw a revolving door of coaches and general managers go through. King believes that the blame falls more on the organization than on the quarterback. “He’s been a bright light for a bad franchise and deserves a chance to win in the final years of his career,” King
