Matthew McConaughey may pursue a career in politics in the near future.

In a recent appearance on the podcast “The Balanced Voice”, host Rania Mankarious said that Texans would be “very happy” to have McConaughey as governor of the Lone Star State.

The 51-year-old actor then replied briefly, “It’s a real consideration.”

In November, McConaughey also discussed running for public office in his home state, Texas, and suggested a future run on politics if the demand was there.

“I don’t know. I mean, it wouldn’t depend on me,” said the actor on “The Hugh Hewitt Show”. “It would depend more on the people than on me.”

The Dallas Buyers Club star further explained, “I would say that. Look, politics seems like a broken business to me now. And when politics redefine their purpose, I could be much more interested.”

As for the policies he wants Democrats and Republicans to support, McConaughey said he is interested in “supporting personal values to resume our social contracts with each other as Americans, as people again”.

The star said that both sides of the aisle have lost “trust” in each other, which leads us to “no [having] confidence in ourselves “, which, he said, could eventually lead to” anarchy “.
