The University of Michigan hired defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald from the Ravens team last month and Jim Harbaugh returned to his brother’s assistant group to fill another gap in his team.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that coach Matt Weiss of Ravens’ running backs is going to Ann Arbor. Weiss will be the coach of the Wolverines’ defenders.
Weiss previously worked with Jim Harbaugh as a graduate assistant at Stanford. He jumped into John Harbaugh’s team in Baltimore in 2009 and worked on both sides of the ball before spending the past two seasons as a running back coach.
The Ravens saw a lot of turnover in the team this off-season. Wide Receivers assistant coach / assistant coach David Culley is now the Texas coach, defensive line coach Joe Cullen is the defensive coordinator for Jaguars and defensive coach Jesse Minter joined Macdonald on his way out of a university coordinator position. . Cornerback Marlon Humphrey referred to this change in a Twitter response to Rapoport saying the team’s first training session will be a “meet and greet. “
