Matt James scrubs the Instagram profile after Rachael Kirkconnell’s split

Matt James is starting from scratch.

The 29-year-old “Bachelor” star, who split from season 25 contestant Rachael Kirkconnell, removed all traces of the 24-year-old Georgia native – and all other social media posts – from her Instagram profile on Friday -market.

James’ page now shows “no posts yet”.

James’ brother John the Scorpion recently spoke with former “Bachelorette” Rachel Lindsay and Van Lathan on his podcast, where he explained that James is going through a “detox phase”.

John also noted that he checked his brother after a tweet from a former football player, who said “Google therapist near me”. This raised concerns about James’ well-being.

“I called him for exactly the same reason, just to see where his head was,” John said to the pair on their “Higher Learning” podcast on Friday. “He’s in a good position. He’s fine. People don’t have to worry about Matt.”

“It’s like he’s going through a detox phase, of all the things he’s been dealing with ABC and being the center of attention and giving interviews,” explained John, adding that James is “in a better place”.

James chose Kirkconnell over finalist Michelle Young at the end of “The Bachelor” on Monday.

However, Kirkconnell was the target of the outrage that preceded the end of the season, as accusations of racist behavior in the past stole the headlines during a contentious “Bachelor” season that saw its first black protagonist.

It is not yet clear whether James and Kirkconnell are still talking, but Kirkconnell has already defended James against “repulsive” attacks on social media after he was warned to break up with her.

“I am surprised by what I saw tonight. If you think attacking someone I care about with racist insults is what I would always wish for, you have not heard,” Kirkconnell wrote in his Instagram story on Wednesday.

She continued, “Some of the things I saw being said about and about Matt are disgusting. I respect the decisions that Matt had to make during this experience. If you are driving hatred towards him, stop. Recognize someone’s humanity and think about the impact that your words have. “

During the “After the Final Rose” special, in which viewers discovered that the duo had split up, Kirkconnell called James “the love of my life”.

James also explained to host Emmanuel I think the Kirkconnell scandal, in which photos circulated of her attending an “Old South” party at a southern plantation in 2018, played an important role in her decision to break up with Kirkconnell.

“As someone who grew up in the South, it takes me to a place that I don’t like to think about often,” lamented James during the special. “I was not well. It was at that moment and in the conversation that I had, that Rachael may not understand what it means to be black in America.”
