Matt Dumba’s buzzer beater in overtime wins Wild over Kings – The Athletic

Mats Zuccarello is quite exceptional in the shooting, but the veteran was not playing for a smelly shooting on Saturday night.

Six seconds from the end of overtime, Zuccarello was skating with the puck in the center of the ice. He would be in his right to play the puck and extend 65 minutes of hockey in a one-on-one skills competition with the Los Angeles Kings.

Instead, Zuccarello proved that six seconds was enough time to execute yet another perfect move to give the franchise’s all-time leader in overtime goals a final stab at a dramatic game winner.

Buzzer beats are generally reserved for hoops, but Matt Dumba took the hockey equivalent by scoring with three tenths of a second remaining in overtime to lift Wild to a thrilling 4-3 victory.
