Mass under winter storm alert as wet snow is expected to slow down on Sunday – Boston News, Weather, Sports

BOSTON (WHDH) – Another winter storm is expected to bring more snow to Massachusetts on Sunday, making it difficult to travel after parts of the state were buried with more than 20 inches of fresh powder earlier this week.

A winter storm alert is in effect from Sunday morning until late Sunday evening for parts of Barnstable, Bristol, Dukes, Middlesex, Plymouth, Suffolk and Worcester counties.

The storm is expected to arrive between 8 am and 10 am, according to 7Weather’s chief meteorologist, Jeremy Reiner. It may take up to 20 hours before you leave. Although strong winds or floods are not expected, the storm’s wet snow will make driving difficult, especially in the afternoon.

Heavy snow is possible in warning areas with accumulations of 4 to 8 inches possible, with the potential to drop 1 to 2 inches per hour after 9 am

The south coast can see 15 to 20 centimeters of snow, while Boston, Worcester County, Metro West, North Shore and Merrimack Valley can have 10 to 15 centimeters of snow.

Western Massachusetts is likely to have about 5 to 10 inches of snow.

Winds can reach 40 mph and travel can be very difficult during a storm.
