Preguiça is one of the strongest competitors still looking for the victory of the first season of “The Masked Dancer”. He is among the six finalists who take the stage in the January 27 episode. Preguiça secured his place with a stunning performance of “Up Where We Belong” by Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes on January 13th. He is a favorite of the four judges (Paula Abdul, Brian Austin Green, Ken Jeong, Ashley Tisdale)

Chmerkovskiy reached the “DWTS” final five times and finally won in season 18 (this number was highlighted in a marker in the runway video) when he partnered with the Olympic ice dancer Meryl Davis (whose initials were seen in a video of clues). Their trophy was a mirror ball, shown in two parts – mirror and ball – in the second clue video. The program’s initials were also referenced with a scene from the Dentist Whitening Tooth System.
Collectively, competitors for “The Masked Dancer” have been on Broadway three times; Maksim starred in “Burn the Floor” in 2009 and “Forever Tango” in 2013. This previous program was referenced with the image of the burning room in the video for the tracks. (We think the Exotic Bird is responsible for the third appearance.)

The Sloth readily admits “a very special love for The Nutcracker”, which is often performed at Christmas. When Maksim married another professional “DWTS”, Peta Murgatroydin 2017, Tchaikovsky’s music for this beloved ballet resonated during the ceremony. In the second video of tracks, we saw Preguiça in marriage to one of the other dancers.

Four of Maksim’s other partners in “Dancing with the Stars” were mentioned in the two-track video: GLEEm toothpaste for “Glee” star Heather Morris (season 24); “DR” for actress Denise Richards (season 8); a bug embedded in amber for the model Amber rose (season 23); and a red Solo cup with the number “13” for soccer player Hope Solo (season 13).
Before joining “DWTS” in the 2nd season, Chmerkovskiy competed at a professional level in the Latin International category and won 10 titles; as a group, competitors for “The Masked Dancer” can boast 11 of these world titles.
This charismatic star was born in Ukraine, which happens to have a blue and yellow flag (we saw these colors in the video of the tracks).

Chmerkovskiy has been dancing since he was four. However, his dreams of dancing professionally were almost shattered when he was 13 and broke his right leg skiing; Preguiça said he had a childhood accident that was a challenge to overcome.
Preguiça is certainly one of the most athletic of the 10 contestants in the 1st season of “The Masked Dancer”. His costume consists of training equipment and he was able to jump and jump across the stage.
