US Capitol Police are investigating a report that Deputy Andy Harris of Maryland tried to take a gun to the House on Thursday. “The USCP is investigating the matter,” officials confirmed to CBS Baltimore.
According to a story on HuffPost, Harris, a Republican, triggered metal detectors while trying to get in, so a security guard spotted the hidden weapon using a metal detector wand.

Members of the Chamber are allowed to carry firearms on the Capitol grounds, but not on the floor of the Chamber.
The officers refused to let Harris in, so he left and returned without the gun, then was allowed to fall to the ground, said HuffPost.
New security measures, including metal detectors, were put in place after the deadly Capitol riot on January 6.
CBS Baltimore contacted Harris’s office for comment, but received no response until Thursday night.
