Maryland defense hits Michigan state

Maryland jumped into Michigan State from the start and looked totally part of an NCAA tournament team when timing the Spartans 73-55. And in doing so, the Terrapins may have closed the door a little further on Michigan’s own tournament hopes.

Michigan was in a difficult situation right off the bat, with the Spartans falling back 11-0 before Aaron Henry finally got Michigan State on the board after more than six minutes. And it served as a preview of the general game, with Maryland generally holding Michigan at a distance. Sea turtles surrounded the Spartans defensively, resulting in several periods of drought. The last of them came in the second half, with the water turtles moving away while the Spartans went more than five minutes without a goal.

Maryland is now out of the top 25, at 26th on the KenPom statistics website. Most importantly, the Terps, who have won five consecutive games, seem to have found their way to winning. Maryland blocked the attack from the state of Michigan while enjoying a strong offensive performance, and it is a formula that sea turtles can continue to apply in March.
