Marvel was reportedly looking at Shia LaBeouf for the role of MCU before the sexual assault process

Before being hit by a sexual assault process, Marvel Studios was looking to cast Shia LaBeouf as a superhero in a future project.

Wonderful Studios he was supposedly eyeing Shia LaBeouf for a superhero role before the actor was hit by a sexual assault process. Best known for his roles in Transformers films and his days as a Disney child star, he has spent some difficult years battling substance abuse.

Now, however, LaBeouf finds himself in the middle of a controversy after his ex-girlfriend FKA Twigs filed a lawsuit against him alleging that he subjected her to various types of abuse. The pair met on the set of Dear boy, which was the actor’s well-received autobiographical film, and started dating. According to Twigs, LaBeouf was physically and verbally abusive to her; in addition, the actor also consciously infected her with STD in an effort to control her in the relationship. Since disseminating this information, Twigs has received overwhelming support from industry peers and the public.

Before these accusations surfaced, however, Marvel Studios was even eyeing LaBeouf for a superhero role in the MCU. A report of Variety indicates that Kevin Feige and his team were impressed with the actor after the success of Dear boy. Other specific details were not provided, including the role they were looking for, but the channel says that as these allegations slowly come to light, Marvel gave up and never really had a meeting with LaBeouf.

Shia LaBeouf in Honey Boy

Marvel Studios is known for its stellar cast, often taking risks with their signings, as long as they are perfect for the intended project. In its run of more than a decade, the MCU brought a variety of talents in front of and behind the camera, and for the most part, these choices worked. Considering the success of Dear boy, followed by another critical hit The peanut butter falcon, it is understandable that LaBeouf caught the attention of Feige and his company.

Admittedly, LaBeouf doesn’t seem to be the type of actor who takes on superhero roles, but over the years, the MCU has turned names like Chris Pratt and Paul Rudd into true comic book heroes. Marvel Studios is also known for promoting a great working environment for its projects. So while LaBeouf, as an actor, may have been perfect for a role, they may have been discouraged by claims that he is difficult to work with. After all, with a consolidated brand, they can simply look for other actors who are also able to do a good job, if not better, that do not cause production problems. Most importantly, casting an actor accused of hurting and abusing women as a superhero is simply wrong, especially since he has admitted to having these tendencies.

It is important to note that Wonderful Studios he also never shied away from hiring actors who previously had personal problems. In the mid-2000s, Robert Downey Jr. was not the global star he is now. The actor was mired in a history of addiction problems and even served a term in prison, but Iron Man director Jon Favreau took a chance and cast him as Tony Stark anyway and the rest is history. To be fair, however, Downey was never accused of harassment like LaBeouf is now; he was just having substance abuse problems. By the time he joined the MCU, he had been sober for several years and, in the end, he made a point of making the most of the opportunity he was given.
