A video shared by Marvel Entertainment investigates the comic book story of The Falcon and Baron Zemo of the Winter Soldier.

A new video shared by Marvel offers an intensive course on the history of comics by Baron Zemo, one of the main players in the original Disney + series The Hawk and the Winter Soldier from Marvel Studios.

Hosted by Langston Belton, the video was uploaded to Marvel Entertainment’s official YouTube channel. He begins by explaining the history of the name Barão Zemo, which is “a title of the German nobility transmitted by 13 generations of malefactors”.

Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the original Marvel Comics Baron Zemo – Dr. Heinrich Zemo – made his first full appearance in 1964 Avengers # 6 after a partial appearance in issue # 4. The 12th member of the Baron Zemo lineage, Heinrich was the leading scientist of the Nazis during World War II, working alongside Baron Wolfgang von Strucker of HYDRA.

Created by Roy Thomas, Tony Isabella and Sal Buscema, Heinrich’s son – Helmut Zemo – first appeared as the villain Phoenix in 1973 captain America # 168, swearing vengeance against Cap for his father’s death. Helmut made his first full appearance as the new Baron Zemo in 1982 captain America # 276 after making a cameo in issue # 275. He later appropriated the mantle of Citizen V in 1997 Incredible Hulk # 449 to become the leader of the Thunderbolts.

Played by Daniel Brühl, a highly altered version of Helmut Zemo was presented to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2016 Captain America Civil War. At the MCU, Zemo is a former special operations soldier from Sokovia, whose family was revealed to have died during the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron, causing him to swear revenge against the Avengers. Zemo successfully fractures the superhero team, framing Steve Rogers’ best friend, Bucky Barnes, for bombing the United Nations. Zemo also reveals that, like the brainwashed Winter Soldier, Bucky murdered Tony Stark’s parents.

Brühl repeats his role as Baron Helmut Zemo in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and even wears the signature mask of the comic book character. After the events of Avengers: Endgame, the Disney + series follows Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes on a worldwide adventure as they struggle with Captain America’s legacy. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier it premiered on March 19 and is currently in the middle of its six-episode sequence.
