Marvel released the trailer for Heroes Reborn, reimagining the Marvel Universe without the Avengers. Last week, Marvel Comics announced the return of Reborn Heroes in asking the question, “What happened to the most powerful heroes on Earth?” He suggested the answer with a series of teasers offering glimpses of a very different Marvel universe. Now the trailer for Reborn Heroes confirms the central concept of the new event. This is a universe where the Avengers never met, but Earth still has its protectors, including members of the Supreme Squadron. The trailer also confirms that the current Avengers creative team, composed by writer Jason Aaron and artist Ed McGuinness, will be behind the new Reborn Heroes.
In this universe, Tony Stark never built the Iron Man armor, Thor is an atheist and Wakanda is a myth. Without the Avengers to find him, Captain America remains frozen in the ice. The Supreme Squad of America (essentially, Marvel’s Justice League) are the protectors of Earth, battling villains like Dr. Juggernaut, the Black Skull, the Silver Witch and Thanos. Blade is the only hero who remembers the world as he was.
“Perhaps the craziest story I’ve ever put on paper. I have to get rid of it and release my inner child from comics in a really profound way and, together with a group of immensely creative artists, we have built a world that I am very confident in to say that it’s very different from any version of the Marvel Universe you’ve seen, ”says Aaron in a press release.“ It grew out of the pages of my Avengers running, but it got bigger and bigger as it progressed, and the more pieces I put in place for this Reborn world, the happier and more animated it became. This project really sparked my love for comics in all the right ways. “
“It is natural that after the Phoenix burns the world to ashes, there will be a rebirth, and so Reborn it’s the next big step in the massive super-story that Jason and Ed have created in Avengers, ”said Executive Editor Tom Brevoort. “Get ready to enter a very different, yet frighteningly familiar Marvel universe!”
“I’ve had a lot of fun designing and drawing new twists on the old favorites that Jason Aaron brought to the table,” said McGuinness. “They all have a history purpose, which makes them really cool to get on the artistic side of things. He may be the craziest scientist of all! “
Reborn Heroes # 1 hits stores in May.
