Marvel boss Kevin Feige ended the rumor that Chris Evans is returning as Captain America: ‘It was dispelled by the man himself’

Chris Evans is unlikely to repeat his role as Captain America, despite feverish speculation to the contrary.

In January, reports circulated that Chris Evens may be returning to Marvel’s cinematic universe as Steve Rogers, after apparently retiring the character in Avengers: Endgame 2019.

‘New to me,’ the 39-year-old tweeted at the time in response to the rumors.

Now Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige closed the reports during an interview with EW, released on Wednesday.

“I rarely answer no to anything because things always surprise me with what happens, but that rumor, I think, was quickly dispelled by the man himself,” he told the publication.

It seems clear that fans shouldn’t expect to see Evans when the spinoff series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier debuts on Disney + on Friday.

The news comes the same day that Marvel Comics announced the first gay Captain America on Tuesday. It will debut in the United States of Captain America first during Pride Month in June.

The new character is named Aaron Fischer and represents the first LGBTQ person to pick up the hero’s shield in the 80-year history of comics.

The historic movement occurs as the comic book giant expands its increasingly diverse list of characters.

The limited series will follow the original Captain America, Steve Rogers, as he searches for his lost shield. Along the way, he meets those who have been inspired by the Captain America symbol to help their own communities.

Known as’ Captain America of the Railways’, writer Joshya Trujillo described the character in a statement: ‘Aaron is inspired by heroes of the queer community: activists, leaders and ordinary people who strive for a better life.

‘He represents the oppressed and the forgotten. I hope your debut story will resonate with readers and help inspire the next generation of heroes, ‘he added.
