Marvel Avengers have Hawkeye and the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions scheduled for March 18

Smoother performance, faster load times and tactile feedback await players who upgrade to the next generation version

Finally, we have a date (March 18th) for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions of Marvel Avengers – But is it a little too late? Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics certainly expect a big boost after a difficult and slower-than-expected release of updates and post-launch of new content.

The PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of Avengers will have “updated visual and frame rate”, “significantly faster load times”, “enhanced destruction” and, in the case of the PS5 DualSense controller, “tactile feedback for each hero. “What the Hulk I feel like? Questioning minds want to know.

Of course, there is still the elephant in the room: the need for new story content to bring players back to the group. Avengers is also releasing the next story and character update, Clint Barton’s Imperfect Future, on March 18. Is it weird to have two archers in a row in an Avengers game? Incredibly.

Crystal Dynamics covered the Clint kit – including a Quick Reflex dodge / parry, a single target Dead Eye attack, a katana and many types of arrows like Boomerang and Tripwire – in a deep dive video.

“While Kate blinks on the battlefield as a blur of endless attacks on multiple enemies, Clint is the constant hunter, taking down her enemies with powerful and accurate attacks one at a time,” said the studio.

As for the (free) Future Imperfect plot, it is borrowed from Old Man Hawkeye and My Life as a Weapon; Nick Fury is missing. You’ve probably seen the Maestro already, but it’s worth clarifying that Clint’s mission is defined in a new biome, Wasteland – and that Lucky, the dog, will appear.

I can see people wanting to play single-player Avengers story about the new consoles thanks to performance gains, but when it comes to giving live service elements a shot in the arm? I am not optimistic.

The sooner they manage to release this update, the sooner we can see big launchers like Spider-Man.
