Marvel Avengers are the straw that broke the camel with PS4 upgrades for PS5

Marvel Avengers for PS5 and PlayStation 5

Marvel’s poor Avengers just can’t take a break, can they? This week was supposed to be his big next-generation reissue, with new Hawkeye content slated to launch with him – instead, all you can say is how bad the PlayStation 5 update procedure is. we think that the hyperbole shared on social media is absurdly exaggerated – but clearly this is an area that Sony can and should improve.

In defense of Square Enix, we had no problem finding the PS5 version on PS Store and download it – which is more than can be said about Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, both buggy at launch for existing PS4 owners. The biggest problem for the Marvel Avengers – or certainly the only thing that snatches the Internet – is the way the files are saved in the transfer.

For those who have played games like Marvel Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Sackboy: A Big Adventure, it’s a familiar process: you load your save from the PS4 version and download it to the PS5 version. Obviously, this should be much clearer – the Xbox Series X | S automatically transfers your progress – but we feel that the people who are doing it as a kind of mind-boggling procedure are being playful.

However, we are long overdue for some PS5 firmware updates, which are clearly in vogue. Overall, we are satisfied with many of the features and functions of Sony’s next generation console, it just has some obvious quirks that could be smoothed out. We are confident that by the end of the year, the system will be in a much more organized place – in the meantime, be sure to take a few extra minutes to download your PS4 save if you are planning to play Marvel Avengers.
