“Market Wagon’s mission is to enable food producers to thrive in their local and regional markets,” said Market Wagon co-founder Dan Brunner. “[The company] offers exceptional options and services to nearby customers, who will know exactly where their food comes from. We have been attracting a lot of attention from food buyers and producers in upstate South Carolina, looking forward to our launch. Our online store contains everything you would expect to find in a physical farmers market – fresh eggs from local farms, dairy products, meat, agricultural products, baked goods and more.

The company’s service allows customers to browse locally grown products on their computers or smartphones during the week and place an order from multiple local suppliers with a single checkout. Orders are delivered every Thursday afternoon in insulated boxes using ice packs as needed to preserve freshness.

Market Wagon offers more than 170 local products, but suppliers load new products every day.

Customers do not have to pay an upfront fee or a long-term subscription to purchase, and interested food producers can apply to be a seller at marketwagon.com.

The company also operates local food chains in St. Louis, Missouri; Indianapolis, Indiana; Nashville, Tennessee; Knoxville, Tennessee; and Louisville, Kentucky.
