In the past few weeks, the date of March 16 has been widely publicized regarding a potential Spring Apple event. Many of us were already very skeptical about the prospects for a March event, both because of the sources and the rumors of the product mix for that event. We will, Bloomberg Apple reporter and extraordinary trickster Mark Gurman says a March 16 event is not happening.
We have been asking ourselves for some time if Apple would hold an event in March due to the large number of products that are supposed to be launched in the first half of 2021. Rumors have been circulating for new iPad Pros, new AirPods and new products like AirTags. YouTube personality Jon Prosser said last year that Apple would host an event in March and would do so specifically on the 16th. Earlier this week, the date began to be played again on Twitter and was chosen by several channels and publications.
If you can trust someone to tell you what Apple is working on, it’s Mark Gurman. Mark said tonight that Apple has no plans for a March 16 event and also does not plan to launch AirTags that day. He does not rule out product launches in March and we still expect to see some. Apple tends to release some minor product updates every March.
It is always possible that there will be a March event in progress, but not on that specific date. The last Apple event in March was in 2019 for the launch of the Apple TV +, but they haven’t held a product-oriented since 2018, when they launched the first low-cost iPad to work with Apple Pencil in Chicago.
Don’t give up hope for AirTags or any other products rumored to launch next month. Just don’t mark your calendar for an event on March 16th.
