Mark Consuelos causes ‘All My Children’ prime time to restart in development

The long daytime soap opera All my children went offline for the first time on ABC in 2011, but it could be returning to its original network. Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, who starred in the series in the 1990s and early 2000s, participate in a sequel to the soap opera called Pine Valley.

About Pine Valley

According to TVLine and Deadline, the program would focus on a young journalist who has a secret agenda that will expose the “black and murderous history of Pine Valley”. Meanwhile, the journalist will get involved in a feud between the Kane and Santos families.

Ripa and Conseulous are the executive producers of the project, which is written and produced by Leo Richardson. He previously worked on Lee Daniels’ Star as well as the CW Riverdale by-product, Katy Keene. He also has experience in soap operas, having written in the British soap opera, Eastenders. Andrew Stearn Robert Nixon, who is the son of the deceased All My Childen creator Agnes Nixon, is also an executive producer.

Pine Valley will feature a new generation of characters and some old favorites. There are currently no deals with the original cast members, but the plan is to invite some of them to make an appearance, with Ripa and Consuelos also making a cameo. Pine Valley plans to continue the legacy of the original series to address difficult issues and be inclusive.

Although the program will air at night and not during the day, it will pay homage to the roots of the daytime soap opera, with a “sharp tone and blink for the daytime soap genre like the CW Jane the Virgin paid tribute to the soap operas ”.

“Dude, you know, All my children it was such an important part of my life and my wife’s life, and you know, I met my wife there, obviously, I had kids and I became a young man on that show, ”he said, as reported by Soap Opera Digest. “We had the opportunity to restart the primetime version and the idea was presented to us and we are very excited. Of all the things we’ve already announced that we’re going to do, this is one of the most, the biggest responses we get from our fans, they are very excited. It’s a big piece of TV that’s been missing for a long time and we’re going to bring it back and I’m excited about it. ”

Consuelos was asked which characters could appear in Pine Valley, but he admitted that he is still not sure about that and that some of those decisions are beyond his control. “I think these decisions are way above my pay scale, but I know they will bring back some of the fan favorites and it will be in Pine Valley and I am very, very excited,” he said.
