Mark Brunell will be the new Lions QB coach

Detroit Lions continues to add former NFL players to the coaching staff. Longtime NFL quarterback Mark Brunell will be hired as the new coach for the QB team, according to several reports.

Brunell interviewed the Lions this week and his hiring should be completed quickly. He currently works as a radio announcer in Jacksonville, where he spent the highlights of his long career as a player.

Brunell has coaching experience, but only in high school. He played 17 years in the NFL, starting with the Green Bay Packers as a fifth round pick of the draft in 1993 outside Washington. He played for Packers, Jaguars, Jets, Washington and Saints, where Brunell ended his career as a teammate with new Lions coach Dan Campbell. A southpaw, Brunell was one of the best double threat QBs of his time.
