Marion County residents aged 65 and over can apply for the COVID-19 vaccination

Marion County residents age 65 and older will soon be able to receive their first COVID-19 vaccination.

The Marion County Health Department is due to receive its first shipment of COVID-19 vaccine for residents this week and is starting the application process for people who would like to be vaccinated.

To request vaccination by the health department, visit https://tinyurl.com/y98cxp6s and complete and submit the requested information form. If you do not have access to the computer, you can call the Marion County COVID-19 hotline at (352) 644-2590, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, and the team will send the form online to you. (Note: DOH-Marion offices will be closed on December 31 and January 1 due to the New Year holidays. Registration will only be available online on those days.)

COVID-19 vaccines will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Once qualified residents submit their information on the DOH-Marion website, they will be placed in line to receive a callback from the team to make an appointment. The team will call to schedule a vaccination appointment as soon as the vaccines are available.

Residents who register to receive the vaccination at the health department will receive the Modern vaccine. The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is a series of two injections, with the second injection being administered 28 days after the first.
