Maricopa County receives 0 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine this week as the state reaches the vaccine milestone

PHOENIX, AZ – Maricopa County received no dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine this week from the Arizona Department of Health Services, according to county officials.

Maricopa County uses the Pfizer vaccine at its POD sites across the Valley.

The county says it only has enough doses of Pfizer on hand to honor nominations in the PODs until February 12. They added that they will not cancel any consultation.

“Everyone recognizes that this is a shared supply problem that we must solve together. ADHS has committed to keeping the Maricopa County POD operating at current capacity, delivering doses as needed for its supply,” said county officials.

The municipality claims to have received 20,000 doses of the Modern vaccine that is being distributed in pharmacies and other health partners and that are working on the daily relocation logistics between the state and the municipality.

“Meanwhile, Public Health continues to focus on planning more events using the Modern vaccine and providing local pharmacies to serve those in Phase 1A and Prioritized 1B,” added the county.

All this while Arizona reached a new milestone on Friday. The state administered more doses of the COVID-19 vaccine than people who tested positive.

Arizona will soon report 14,000 COVID-19-related deaths in the state, according to state data from the Arizona Department of Health Services.

ADHS reported an additional 196 deaths on Friday, bringing the total number of deaths to just under 14,000 in 13,948.

Garrett Archer, data analyst at ABC15, found that last month, the state had 22 days with a death report of more than 100, and 11 of which were more than 200.
