South Carolina’s new football coach Shane Beamer hired Marcus Satterfield as an offensive coordinator.

Satterfield, 44, played at Greenback High School for his father Bill Satterfield.

Satterfield, who will also serve as a defender, has spent the past three seasons working with Carolina Panthers coach Matt Rhule. Satterfield was Rhule’s recruiting director at Baylor in 2018, before becoming Bears coach the following season.

Satterfield spent the past season as assistant coach for the Panthers’ offensive line after Rhule joined the NFL.

Wide receiver and gambler in the 1995-98 East Tennessee State, Satterfield began his coaching career in Chattanooga in 1999, before leaving after three seasons to become a graduate assistant in Tennessee under Phillip Fulmer for two years.

Satterfield trained wide receivers in Richmond (2004) and Western Carolina (2005) before spending three years at UT Martin as an offensive coordinator.

He returned to Chattanooga as a 2009-12 offensive coordinator before joining Rhule at Temple as a 2013-15 offensive coordinator.
