Mandy Moore still suffers from ‘low platelets’ after the birth of son August

She recently returned to work on her hit NBC series This Is Us, after giving birth to her son in August last month.

And Mandy Moore accessed Instagram on Friday to give her followers an update on her post-pregnancy health, revealing that she is still suffering from ‘low [blood] platelets. ‘

While she explained her situation, the 36-year-old actress noted that she wants her platelet count to a ‘solid level’ so that she doesn’t have to ‘worry or doubt during her next pregnancy’.

She first shared a snapshot of the doctor’s waiting room, writing: ‘back to the hematologist to see if my platelets have increased since I had the baby.’

Mandy appeared to be wearing a fancy-looking floral dress with puffed sleeves for her midday doctor’s appointment.

Her brown hair was parted in the middle and combed in loose waves and she wore a mask over her face.

After talking to his doctor and knowing his results, Moore went back to his vehicle and provided his fans with an update.

“The platelets are going up, but they’re still not great,” began the star, as she posed for the camera with a pair of transparent-framed sunglasses.

‘I’m on a mission to do what I can to get them to a solid place, so that I don’t have to be thinking or worrying during the next pregnancy.

“I have to wait a few more months to absolutely confirm that it is infantile ITP and not gestational thrombocytopenia,” she continued.

Moore concluded his text post by asking those who also suffer from ‘low platelets’ to share what has worked for them in the past to increase their score.

Mandy’s heartfelt health update comes just a day after she resumed her role as Rebecca Pearson on the set of This Is Us.

“So grateful to be able to get back to work with ease in this job that I love it so much (and to be able to bring my sweet husband and baby to be with me),” she told her 4.5 million followers on Instagram.

While her husband Taylor Goldsmith, whom she married in 2018, was not seen in any of her photos, Moore filmed herself doing her hair and makeup.

The two-time SAG Award winner put on the recording caption: ‘Mommy is back at work !!!’

In the filming, the Golden Globe nominee wore a black mask and wore a fluffy purple tunic with half of the brown hair pulled back in rolls.

Her second photo showed her wearing a tight brown sweater and long denim skirt, which showed her toned post-pregnancy body.

In January, creator of This Is Us, Dan Fogelman, announced that there would be a delay in filming due to a wave of COVID-19 in Los Angeles, where the much-loved show is filmed.

Moore welcomed her first child, whom she affectionately calls Gus with Goldsmith, 35, in February.

She shared her first photos of the small August on February 23.

“He was punctual and arrived on time, to his parents’ delight,” she wrote. ‘We were prepared to fall in love in every way, but it goes beyond anything we could have ever imagined.’

She added that he was ‘a week on Earth’, suggesting that he was born on February 20, although she has not yet confirmed his date of birth.
