“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her in the future,” said Lucasfilm in a statement.

Gina Carano is not going back to The Mandalorian, after sharing a post on social media inferring that being a Republican today is like being a Jew during the Holocaust.

“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her in the future,” said a Lucasfilm spokesman in a statement. “However, your posts on social media denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are disgusting and unacceptable.”

On Wednesday, the hashtag #FireGinaCarano was on the rise after an Instagram post by a conservative actor and former mixed martial arts fighter who was met with strong reactions. The post has already been deleted, but the screenshots were widely shared by users on social media who asked for her to be fired from the successful Disney + Star Wars Show.

This is not the first time that Carano, who plays the ex-soldier of the Rebel Alliance Cara Dune in THE Mandalorian, has been the focus of social media’s ire for its political comments. Last November, she issued controversial tweets, one in which she mask imitation amid the new coronavirus pandemic and another in which it falsely suggested electoral fraud occurred during the 2020 presidential election.

“Two months ago they were looking for a reason to fire her and today was the last straw,” said a source with knowledge of Lucasfilm’s thinking. THR.

The Mandalorian debuted on Disney + in November 2019 helped boost the streaming service to impressive subscription numbers. Multiple Mandalorian spinoffs are underway by executive producers Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, including New Republic Rangers, who could potentially have starred Carano, although this has never been officially confirmed.

But, according to sources, Lucasfilm planned to reveal Carano as the star of its own show during an investor day presentation in December, but gave up on plans after its November tweets.
