Manager of Chick-Fil-A accelerates drive-thru vaccine line in South Carolina

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (CNN) – If anyone knows how to navigate a long drive-through track, it’s Chick-Fil-A.

A South Carolina city mayor called the fast-food chain to help ensure vaccine control.

The clinic was sent on January 22 to residents eligible for the vaccine. But shortly after the opening, the computer system that managed the records fell.

Hundreds of people had to wait in line for hours.

It was then that the Mayor of Mount Pleasant, Will Haynie, called in a professional – the manager of Chick-Fil-A, Jerry Walkowiak.

Walkowiak diagnosed the problem and added volunteers to check in.

He turned that traffic jam into a smooth operation, with a wait time of just 15 minutes.

More than 1,000 people received the vaccine that first day.

When they return for their second dose next week, Walkowiak will be back to lend his experience.
