Man who protected Roger Stone is arrested during Capitol riot

An alleged member of the Oath Keepers militia who provided security for Roger J. Stone Jr. on the day the Capitol was attacked was arrested in connection with the riot, federal officials said on Monday.

The man, Robert Minuta, is due to appear on Monday afternoon in federal court in White Plains, NY, to face charges stemming from the siege. The documents containing the specific crimes that Mr. Minuta would have committed were not released before the hearing.

Last month, The New York Times and other media identified Minuta, who owns a tattoo parlor in upstate New York, as one of six people linked to the Oath Keepers who protected Stone, a close ally and adviser to the former President Donald J. Trump, on the morning of January 6 or the day before.

Stone, whose sentence on seven criminal charges was commuted by Trump, was in Washington the day the then president spoke to a crowd before the attack on the Capitol. Mr. Stone denied any involvement in the attack, posting an online message condemning the riot as “illegal acts on the Capitol”.
