Man trapped in Atlanta grocery store with 5 guns, body armor, police say

A 22-year-old man who, police said, entered an Atlanta warehouse carrying a rifle and was later found with five weapons and armor was arrested on Wednesday.

Police said the man went into a bathroom at the store and police were waiting for him when he left, the police said.

“During the investigation, officers recovered five of the man’s firearms and bulletproof vests,” the Atlanta Police Department said in a statement, but it was not clear where the other weapons were found or whether he was wearing the armor. .

The weapons were described as two long weapons and three pistols.

A witness told local ABC affiliate WSB-TV that he saw the man with what he described as an AR-15 rifle in the bathroom and “the gun was supported in the bathroom stall, and it was not in a box”.

Police said he was being taken to county jail for prosecution.

The telephone number of someone listed with that name in Georgia was not found immediately on Thursday morning.

His arrest comes two days after a sniper killed 10 people at a supermarket in Boulder, Colorado. The suspect in these deaths is in custody and has been charged.

Last week, a sniper killed eight people in shootings that targeted a massage parlor and two spas in and around Atlanta. The alleged killer in the shootings is also in custody and has been charged.
