A man was shot and killed in the parking lot of a company in Nashville on Friday night after a “prank” for theft on a YouTube channel went wrong, according to police.
When the cops arrived at Urban Air in the city’s Hermitage neighborhood around 9:20 pm, they learned that Timothy Wilks, 20, and a friend approached a group of people, including David Starnes Jr., with butcher knives as part of the prank.
Starnes, 23, told detectives he didn’t know about the prank and shot Wilks in self-defense, the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department said on Saturday in a statement. The situation of the friend who was with Wilks was not disclosed.
Starnes was not charged in connection with the incident, which remains under investigation.
