Man Helping Driver Arrested Killed By Driver Hit In Springfield Gardens, Queens

SPRINGFIELD GARDENS, Queens (WABC) – A 51-year-old man was killed by a hit-and-run driver after he stopped to help a driver arrested in Queens.

The incident happened on Friday night, shortly after 8, on the east side of the Nassau Expressway in Springfield Gardens.

According to police, the victim was close to his Audi 2005 sedan when he was hit.

The search begins for the driver who abandoned his Dodge Caravan and left on foot.

EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

There are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing by the NYPD.
