Man barricaded himself inside the High Point house, shot 3 policemen :: WRAL.com

– A man shot three policemen after barricading himself inside a house in High Point on Friday morning, police said.

According to the High Point Police Department, a police officer was patrolling the area at around 11:15 pm on Thursday when he heard shots coming from a house on 2900 block of West English Road.

According to the police, the policeman saw a man sitting on the porch of the house and approached him. The man entered the house and barricaded himself in what would become a deadlock of hours.

More police responded to the scene and surrounded the house. When a tactical team tried to get the man out, he grabbed a rifle and started shooting at the police, officials said.

Police officers have non-fatal injuries, but one will need surgery.

Lieutenant Matt Truitt of the High Point Police Department said he is grateful that the officers are doing well.

According to Truitt, the area was evacuated as soon as the man started shooting, and the main objective now is to negotiate with the man so that he can deliver himself peacefully.

“He dictates what happens from here,” said Truitt.

The Greensboro Police Department arrived at the scene to assist the High Point police, and Truitt said that even off-duty officers responded to the home to help.

At 8:30 am, the man was still locked inside the house
