Malia Obama joins Donald Glover to write a new Amazon series

Malia Obama signed a contract to write for an upcoming streaming series directed by Donald Glover, who has just signed an eight-digit production contract with Amazon Prime.

Glover’s new pact with the streaming platform will make the Emmy and Grammy winner produce a series of television projects that have not yet been developed, such as a potential new series dubbed “Hive”. He enlisted writer Janine Nabers (“Watchmen”) to help lead the team that includes the former United States First Daughter, the Hollywood Reporter reported for the first time.

Although the plot is under wraps, sources have revealed that “Hive” will be centered around a character like Beyoncé.

Malia, 22, is a student in the 2021 class at Harvard University, and that would mark her first professional entertainment show after several first-class internships, including a stint on the HBO set of “Girls” in 2015.

News of the high-level addition to Glover’s writers’ room comes just days after it was announced that the 37-year-old creator of “Atlanta” and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the head behind the award-winning “Fleabag” series, would meet on screen for a remake of “Mr. & Mrs. Smith ”, also in partnership with Amazon Studios and also with New Regency.

Amazon declined to comment. Reps for Glover, also known as artist Childish Gambino, did not immediately respond to requests for comment from the Post.
